The project

I landed on your site and it is all poker. What is this?

I got into poker three years ago, and to me it is more than a card game. Behind its apparent simplicity there is a lot about decisions, risk and people; you just have to know how to get it out. This site is where I do that, and you watch it happen in real time.

Fine, but why only three hundred hands? Is it the money? The time?

Good question. It is always both, but that is not the reason.

Three hundred hands earn a free ticket from GG Poker to a satellite for a tournament where the prize runs into millions. A session like that takes about half an hour, and half an hour can be found on any day, morning or evening.

I play beyond that too: tournaments, other stakes, other rooms, and money is lost and won there as well. Here are a few examples.

All of that stays outside this site. The numbers here are not my poker results in general, only the result of the experiment I set myself: three hundred hands a day.

Got it. But Claude… another AI thing? You dump the files in and it hands you the answer? Anyone can do that.

Not quite. My Claude is set up for poker hand analysis: the rules it counts and writes by have been refined about fifty times by now, and it works alongside poker software – a solver and an odds calculator.

Even so, every post goes through about ten rounds of edits before it satisfies me. Language is its own story: Claude checks the texts against my earlier posts and articles, and I still rewrite plenty by hand. This section, for instance, I wrote the old-fashioned way; Claude only tidied it and put it on the site.

And the business insights we work out together: we argue a lot and pick the sharpest and most telling one. Claude, by the way, argues hard, and pulls me back to the numbers every time I try to dress something up or cut a corner.
